About This Event

Taking Back Ground is a powerful discipleship program that equips those struggling with unwanted same-sex attractions to walk in freedom by providing in-depth teaching, and small group accountability. If you are struggling with sexual and relational issues, please consider joining us for the Taking Back Ground program. This group is for men 18 or older. For more information please contact Michael McCune at 213.598.6678. The cost will be $25.

Intent of TBG Group:

The intent for Taking Back Ground is to go alongside those with unwanted same sex attraction to grow closer to God and learn and fellowship with others who experience the same things. We hope you do experience healing (though this does NOT mean same sex desire will be gone). Our hope is to have a safe community among believers where you can share openly and have resources on how to go through this journey in a Godly way.

Group Requirements:

● Must be a male

● Must be 18 years of age or older

● Must personally have unwanted same sex attraction and desire a Christian perspective

Group Courtesies:

Self-focus:

We are honest about ourselves and with others. We share our own experience, insights, and feelings.

Respect Others:

We are each entitled to our own opinion. We are free to find our own answers.

Consider Others:

We are supportive of group members. We may have been at their place ourselves in the past, or will be ourselves in the coming week.

Take Responsibility:

When we are uncomfortable with anything in group, we deal with it ourselves directly instead of expecting others to rescue us.

Limit Sharing:

We are considerate of the need for all to share, and look on group sessions as a place for everyone to process their opinions and options. Keep in mind everyone is in a different place.

Let God Work:

We do not fix, analyze, or advise others. We do not preach at, verbally attack, or sit in judgment on in speech or in prayer.

Interaction:

We strongly avoid crosstalk or unsolicited advice. We share as the group leader directs. The facilitator will allow interaction sharing between participants for specific situations, as directed by facilitator.

Personal Space:

We may want to embrace; however, for at least the first portion of TBG we want to refrain from touching any group members. This is to be sensitive to group member’s possible struggles and to allow group members to feel comfortable getting to know everyone in a healthy way.

Regular Attendance:

We attend every session, and are on time. We text, call, or email the facilitator if we find we cannot attend. Group members, please miss no more than 2 meetings. We are understanding and exception can be made, however we just want dedicated group members.

Confidentiality:

We do not talk about anyone else or mention names outside of the group, without the permeation of each involved, or without protecting anonymity.

Mandated Reporting:

This group wants people to feel open sharing; however, there are some things that the facilitator will have to report to CCV’s Lead Care Pastor and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Ron Hall for proper handling.

● Wanting to harm yourself

● Wanting to harm others

● Abuse of a minor, elder, or dependent adult

● Any threats to harm someone’s personal property
